Your eye health is important and our City Optometry students use the latest technology to examine your vision.

Your eye test explained

We offer a free eye test for all patients, who will be seen by a City Optometry student. Your eye health is important, and we will help assess how clearly you can see and the overall health of your eyes. We will also help assess whether any glasses are required.

What happens at an eye test?

The eye examination begins with some questions about your vision, health and previous ocular history.

Following this, your vision and eye health are comprehensively examined using the latest 3D OCT scanner.

This allows early detection and monitoring of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts,
diabetes and age- related macular degeneration.

The eye examination during term time ( September to April) can take up to 2.5 hours, due to the technology we use, and due to the clinic being a high level teaching facility for our third year student
optometrists.

How we check

We use the latest diagnostic equipment when conducting ocular health checks to ensure patients are given correct diagnosis and to monitor eye sight and treatment. Learn more about how we check using our diagnostic equipment on our eye lab page.
